Datadog AI (Bits AI)

Bits AI is the embedded assistant inside Datadog's observability platform, designed to help engineers investigate incidents, query telemetry, and automate routine DevOps workflows using natural language. Rather than replacing Datadog's dashboards and alerts, Bits AI sits on top of them: an on-call engineer can ask it to summarize an active incident, surface correlated anomalies across metrics/logs/traces, or generate a hypothesis about root cause, and the assistant pulls from the same data that the platform already ingests. Key capabilities include anomaly detection across service metrics, natural-language queries that translate into Datadog's query language, automated remediation suggestions (and in some cases automated actions), and generation of temporary dashboards for a specific investigation. Because it runs inside Datadog, it inherits the platform's existing access controls, integrations, and data retention — there is no separate data pipeline to stand up. Bits AI is a paid feature aimed at Datadog customers already invested in the platform; for teams not using Datadog, it is not a standalone product. It is most valuable in environments with high cardinality telemetry where manual triage during incidents is a bottleneck, and where the cost of the assistant is justified against the cost of prolonged outages.
