ZCode is Z.ai's (Zhipu AI) agentic coding product, built to combine powerful AI agents with the developer toolchains you already use. Rather than asking you to switch editors, it slots the GLM model family — the GLM-5.x line and the current GLM-5.3 — into an integrated experience that handles the full software lifecycle: planning a feature, writing the code, reviewing it, and deploying. Its positioning is simple and ambitious: bring frontier-level agentic engineering, in the GLM team's words, 'from vibe coding to agentic engineering.' What makes ZCode notable is the strength-to-price ratio of the underlying GLM Coding models. The GLM-5.x series has progressed rapidly through reasoning, coding, and long-horizon agent iterations, and community benchmarks frequently compare GLM-4.6 and GLM-5 favorably against Claude Sonnet on coding tasks — at a fraction of the cost. The GLM Coding Plan starts at a Lite tier of $12.6/month (Pro at $56, Max at $117.6), keeping it one of the more affordable ways to run a frontier-grade coding agent at volume.
